In February 2001, the Blue Mountains Hotel School opened its first campus in China - in Tianjin China. This is a joint venture with the China Tourism Management Institute to conduct a two-years diploma programme in Hospitality Management. This joint venture provides the students the opportunity to go overseas to further their studies to a bachelor’s degree level, either at the Blue Mountains Hotel School in Australia, or at any one of its associated institutions within the Orion Hotel Schools - Global Alliance.
The China Tourism Management Institute (CTMI) is the only institute of tertiary education in China directly administered by the China National Tourism Administration. Approved by the China National Education Ministry and invested in by both the China National Tourism Administration and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), CTMI was established in 1987 and is now the largest tertiary education institution in China specialising in tourism education. During the past 20 years, the China Tourism Management Institute has trained a great number of students for the tourism industry.
Institute Facilities:
CTMI is located in the hotel district of Tianjin. The surrounding environing is tranquil and enjoys good transportation links to all parts of the city. The campus grounds cover an area of thirty – three hectares with buildings occupying a space of twenty – eight thousand square meters. CTMI provides modern facilities for learning and teaching that include: a fully equipped audio-visual centre, multimedia network access and practical laboratories such as front office lab, housekeeping lab, lounge/ bar attendants’ lab. It also has a library with large collection of book and printed media, a learning resources centre, a multi-purpose lecture theatre and 4- star hotel CTMI started a joint venture with Blue Mountains Hotel School (BMHS) to conduct a two-year Diploma program in Hospitality Management from February 2001. The program is 100% taught in English. Student can learn theoretical knowledge from studying as well as practical skills and experience from paid internship.
